Not me Monday!
After reading MckMomma's "Not Me Mondays" so may times over on her blog, www.mycharmingkids.net I have decided to try my own version of her creation!
Here goes...
I did not take my six month old for a 4 hour drive each way this weekend...just so we could see our good friend Kayla.
While I was not driving 4 hours, I did not honk at numerous people who I thought were not driving responsibly...I did have BABY ON BOARD!
I did not watch the Sex in the City movie for the first time this weekend...I am WAY to trendy to wait THAT long to see a movie!
I did not tell my students that I needed a mental health day last Thursday, so I could do MY work during study hall. Nope. Not me!
I would never allow 5 loads of laundry pile up, so when it was time to fold them...I had a mountain of laundry...and work!
And when Rachel was telling me all the details of her fabulous new job in the BIG city...including a LV purse after 5 years...I did NOT feel on hint of jealousy.
There...now I feel cleansed...you should try it!

All our bags are packed...We're ready to go,
Well....we are not leaving in a jet plane, but Dixon and I are headed up north to see Auntie Kayla in Minneapolis! I met Kayla our first year at college on move in day. I always remind her that she was a little grumpy that day...but we turned out to be the best of friends. Back in my previous life, or as I like to call it BD, before Dixon, Kayla and I would take turns. I would go see her and then she would come see me...Well let's just say I have missed my turn about 5 times ago. And with the winter weather season around the corner, I knew I needed to plan a trip. We are SO excited to see her!
However, I am nervous about the drive. It takes about 4 hours...hopefully we will be ok. I always try to relate my life to Jon and Kate + 8. So I figure if they can do all of their traveling with 8 children...I can surely do it with one! I have packed up every toy that he has ever shown the slightest interest in, books, TWO wubbas, his crib soothie machine, CDs, ect...let's just hope I have enough to keep the little bear occupied.
I am also nervous about other drivers. Now, BD I was one of those "other drivers," going way to fast, doing 3 tasks other than driving, ect. However, times have changed. I am carrying precious cargo! So if you are headed north on 35 tonight...please be careful!
Once we are there I know that we will have a BLAST! I will keep you posted on our BIG adventure.

New shoe day
Today is new shoe day!
Really is there anything better?
However today as I wear my new shoes...
I am starting to wonder...
Are they too cooky high school teacher-ish??

manic monday!
Today is a CRAZY day at school...
I feel like I am constantly chasing my tail...
When I went home for lunch and got to hold Dixon
it made me realize how grateful I am that
I can work so close to him and see him as much as I want.
When things are so stressful it is hard to focus on the positive...
Here is my attempt...
Let's change that to magnificent Monday.

Wordless Wednesday
As I have begun researching (stalking) other mommy blogs...
I noticed that they have labeled days of the week...
The one I love is Wordless Wednesday.
My first choice was What I Want Wednesday...
but that doesn't go along with me becoming less materialistic..;)
So...from now on we will have Wordless Wednesdays...if I remember!
Once I become a more advanced blogger...I plan to start Not Me Mondays!
WATCH OUT BLOGOSPHERE!
Here is my first Wordless Wednesday...dedicated to Lauren.

Our little pumpkin
As if our day wasn't jam packed enough on Sunday...
When Daddy got home he wanted to go to the pumpkin patch.
Which has been hard to do with conflicting days off...
So Dixon didn't even get out of his carseat from the parade
and it was off to pick out our pumpkins!
He couldn't really do many of the activities...
However...he would have had the pumpkin eater contest in the bag!

6 months...
Dear Dixon,
It is so hard to believe that you are six months old already! I don't really realize how much you've grown until I see a newborn baby...then you look like a MONSTER! Here is what you looked like in your swing when we brought you home...
And here is you in your swing at six months...
I'm sure that all of the amazing things you are doing are developmentally appropriate, but you AMAZE me everyday. I can't help but think you are the most advanced 6 month old alive. The best thing so far is when you reach your arms out for me. Although...there is nothing better that catching your eye and seeing your (almost) toothless grin through wubba.
I love to see all of your tricks...but it is so nice when you have just eaten and you are a little sleepy, then you want to cuddle with me. You have a wonderful personality...for the most part you are laid back and happy go lucky...unless you are hungry or tired. At these times, you let me know that there is a problem. You are interested in EVERYTHING! You are always watching things...like you are trying to figure out how they work.
Lately you have been waking me up in the middle of the night again...which I pretend not to like...but sometimes I secretly enjoy those extra moments with you. It has been a wonderful six months...I can't wait to see what the next 6 will bring for us.
I love you more than you know.

One fine day...
Dixon had a great first Covered Bridge Festival. Even though he slept through most of it...he got to see his cousins Owen, Sam and Elliot. We went up town with Grandma Wendy and met our cousins Jeff, Melody, Brooke and Andy. It was fun to do a lap around the square and see old friends and family! Here are a few photos to document Dixon's great day!
Watching the parade with Great Aunt Darcy.

A day at the park....
Here are a few long lost pictures from a great weekend with Max. It was so much fun to have Max spend the night, just like old times! Max is becoming more interested in Dixon. He likes to try to make him laugh. He loved walking Lady around the park and Dixon and I had fun lounging in the shade. :) We can't wait for little Max to come back!
