Not Me! Monday

I did NOT wash Dixon's new red fuzzy blanket along with the rest of his laundry including his new clothes. If I did do that, I would NOT have spent over an hour lint rolling the WHOLE load of laundry.

I did not post 847 pictures of Dixon's first Christmas. I am an under control blogger and I do not think that people really want to see 847 pictures of my kid.

We do not still have two bags full of presents sitting in our living room that need to be put away. I always put my things right away.

I did not slip on my diet this holiday season and have just a tinsy winsy bit of cherry cheese cake. As a result of this, I am not planning on breaking in to the school today so I can weigh myself on the nurses scale...to see if I have gained 5 pounds.

I was not worried sick about Stellan being in the hospital yesterday, so much so that I was checking MckMama's twitter every 30 seconds. And when my sister asked, "Who is that?" I did NOT reply, "My friend." I do not feel that she is one of my besties...that would be silly...I have never even met her!

When I made the bed yesterday, my husband did not come home and exclaim, "WOAH, you made the bed!?!?" He would not do this becuase I make the bed every day...it is NOT an unusual occurrence.

Even though MckMama is not holding her weekly confession fest....and rightly so. Her precious baby Stellan is in the hospital with a bad case of RSV. Head on over to her blog and keep Baby Stellan in your prayers.

However, I already had mine ready to go, so here goes!

Christmas is over... ;(

We had our last Christmas celebration yesterday at Grandma Chris and Grandpa Don's house. Dixon was constantly entertained by his 10 older cousins! They all love to play with him and help him do things. Dixon got this amazing activity table, which he loves. I have been waiting for this gift, because I knew that he would LOVE to pull himself up to play, play, play!

Dixon's first Christmas...

**Disclaimer** This is probably WAY more photos than anyone cares to see of our Christmases!
But it was hard to choose these few photos that made the cut for the blog! It was a fun filled BUSY day of party hopping and present opening.

#1 We started off with Christmas Eve at Grandma Gayle and Grandpa Dan's house. Dixon had so much fun playing with the Maltese and his Aunt Natalie and Uncle Nathan and Sara. It was a wonderful evening!

#2 When we got home we were surprised to see that Santa had came while we were at Grandma Gayles! Dixon opened his stocking and his gifts from Santa, before heading off to bed. It was amazing to watch Dixon crawl around with all of his presents!

#3 When we woke up in the morning we headed right off to Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Jack's. Aunt Maddy and Uncle Jackson were waiting paitently and Aunt Tasha and Eric arrived shortly after! It was a great morning full of love and laughter.

#4 After Grandma Wendy's Aunt Tasha, Eric, Adam, Dixon and I left to go to Grandpa Don and Grandma Chris's house. Uncle Colton had been waiting and he was a great source of entertainment as we opened our gifts and talked of Christmases past.

#5 Next we had an hour at home before we left for Grandma Patty and Grandpa Don's house. The house was full of cousins, aunts and uncles. It was bursting at the seams with love. :)

#6 We left Grandma Patty's house early to go to Grandma Marge's. Everyone was there waiting to see Dixon! He had so much fun crawling around the house with Grandpa Dan. It was wonderful to see all the family.

#7 Our last stop of the day was back at Grandma Wendy's for her Christmas night party. It was nice to end the day with a house full of friends, family and conversation.

It was a crazy day but we know that we are very blessed to have so many people who we love to share Christmas day with. We wouldn't have our Christmas day any other way! We have one more gathering left before our season is over and we can't wait until next year, when Dixon will be RUNNING around and loving to see all of his family!

Dixon LOVED this plastic Santa at Grandma Marge's house!

Joy to the world...

I really don't know if I have ever been this excited to celebrate Christmas. Not even the year Aunt Tasha and I got the Barbie Dream House. I know Dixon won't know or really understand what is going on, but it will be so fun to share the joy of the holiday season with him!

We have already had one Christmas celebration last Sunday at Grandma Karen's house. Everyone was there and it was great to be able to spend time with them!

Pretty cousins!

"Mama....this is one loud family!"

Away in the manger...

Or in a well lit church...
Dixon was the star of the play...well practically the whole service!
The youth led the whole sermon on Sunday, which was so adorable and impressive!
The skit was a modern newscast on the birth of Jesus.
Youth of all ages participated in the skit and the whole sermon.
Jackson had great one liner and Dixon was a perfect angel!

I bet you didn't know that Jesus wore Nikes!

A person new to our church may have thought that the actor portraying baby Jesus was being followed by the paparazzi. But in fact, it was only members of his immediate family...

From the minute Dixon was brought on stage there were five cameras clicking away, trying to catch every moment.

Great Grandma Karen came from Des Moines to watch Dixon.

Auntie Tasha and Eric also came to watch the show (ahem service). ;)

Grandpa Jack and Great Grandma Helen also came to watch the stellar performance.

What a wonderful day and a great kickoff for the Christmas season!!

8 months! (and 3 days)

I have been a little lax on posting Dixon's 8 month birthday post. He has been sick with a cold...;( And I have been EXHAUSTED from being up many times a night with the little darling! So Dixon, here goes...

When you were 8 months old....

You just learned to pull yourself up to your feet!

You crawl like crazy in EVERY room of EVERY house!

You woke up more times in the night that when we brought you home!

You refused to eat your veggies...

But you love to eat those little Gerber puffs!

You say mamamamma....but not consciously or on command. ;)

You made your stage debut as Jesus.

You are getting too big for your infant carseat ;(...but Mommy told Santa you wanted a new one. :)

You got your first tooth on top, for a total of 4 bottom and 1 top!

You make our hearts smile each and every second, you are outgoing and full of life! We are so lucky to have been blessed with you!

LOVE

Star of the play...

This Sunday in church (10 am) our very own Dixon will be playing the all important part of baby Jesus. He will be in good hands as Uncle Jackson is playing Joesph. Let's just hope that Dixon doesn't fuss! Either way I'm sure it will be an Oscar worthy performance!

homework oh homework,

i hate you, you stink.
i wish i could wash you away in the sink...

On a day like today when I am chasing my tail around school AND trying to finish up with my class, I can't help but return to my elementary school teacher roots and channel Jack Prelutsky ....

Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!
I wish I could wash you
away in the sink.
If only a bomb
would explode you to bits.
Homework! Oh, homework!
You're giving me fits.

I'd rather take baths
with a man-eating shark,
or wrestle a lion
alone in the dark,
eat spinach and liver,
pet ten porcupines,
than tackle the homework
my teacher assigns.

Homework! Oh, homework!
You're last on my list.
I simply can't see
why you even exist.
If you just disappeared
it would tickle me pink.
Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!

LOVE.

My name is Kendra...

...and I love snow days!

The footage was much more interesting before the camera was rolling...Dixon was chasing lady all around the house and pulling himself up to his knees on the window!

We LOVE snow days around the Alexander house and since I am back in town they happen a lot more often. We were lucky to have a snow day on Tuesday so Adam would be home too! We spent most of the morning sleeping and at the Dr. The rest of the afternoon was spent laughing at Dixon as he crawled around the house! Mommy and Dixon took a BIG nap while Daddy watched the new Batman movie!

If only every day could be a snow day...

Not Me! Monday...

I did NOT not realize that my college class was over this week and I still had a TON of work to do...Not me! I am the non-tradition student, who always knows what is going on in class.

I do not currently want to pull my hair out when I think about Dixon's current sleep situation...No I do not hold him until he falls alseep...he goes to sleep just on his own!

I am not still the tiniest bit perturbed with target... and I do not secretly still hope that I will get my car seats!

I did not take Dixon to the doctor secretly hoping that and ear infection would be the reason that he was up 4-5 times per night instead of his usual sleeping through the night!

When I looked around my house last night I did not realize that it was a total disaster and (demand) kindly request that Adam get out of bed to help me clean!

I did not spend the past 10 minutes trying to figure out how to strike through a word and then resort to using parentheses.

Need to admit what you did not do this week? Or just need to read what other moms did not do to help realize you are not alone? Then head on over the MckMama's blog at www.mycharmingkids.net !!!

Santa baby!

Dixon got to meet the man himself at Jordan Creek Mall. He loved Santa and couldn't take his eyes off of him! When we left Santa warned me that it probably wouldn't be this easy next year!! He told Santa that he wants a new big boy car seat, specifically a Britax Marathon Cowmooflauge...like mother like son!

It looks like I won't be getting one of these...

No Mother of the Year trophies this year...there's always next year!
Dixon has always been a little squirmy. When Dixon stayed at Uncle Marty and Aunt Darcy's, Uncle Marty commented that Dixon will be a good wrestler because he WON'T stay on his back. Which is so true Dixon will not stay on his back for anything; to sleep, to change his diaper, to dress him, anything.
On Wednesday when I went home between work and class I was changing Dixon's diaper he popped right up into crawling position. I continued to change his diaper (I have gotten pretty good at this :)). Before I could stop him he LUNGED for the end of the table and it got him right on under his eye! He has a cut and just a little bit of blue (which is now brown).

In better news...Dixon has just got is 4th tooth, on the bottom! Now we are just waiting for those top 4 to pop through. Dr. Amy says we are VERY close!

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas...

As I was watching the snow come down late Saturday afternoon I realized...I had no appointment for our Christmas card picture! AHHH! So I called Leann at 4:00 hoping to get in the next week and she has just received a cancellation...at 5:30! So we hustled around, I frantically was holding up outfit choices to everyone and we made it (even a bit early!) Here are a few of our options! 21 more days!!!
