Potty training: It's a crap shoot. Literally.

The previous pictures represent my entire life the past few days. Everything potty.

Just when I thought I was getting the hang of this parenting gig...

We have been knee deep (literally) in potty training Dixon.

We have had multiple #1 accidents and many varieties of #2 ones.

This is stressful. I keep having to remind myself, just as I have done many times before, that when you are raising children, everything is a phase.
Let's just say he is one very determined boy. And he loves his diapers. And he does not mind being in a wet or dirty diaper for any extended period of time. Good thing I am also one determined mama.

I have only found one thing to work. Bribery.

If Dixon goes "peepee on the potty" he gets either a Car toy or a Playmobil toy.

I know, I know, I have taken all of the classes on intrinsic vs extrinsic motivation. I am at a loss.

He will not do it for food. He will not do it for a sticker. He will not do it for a song or dance. (As a matter of fact, he recently told  me, "Mommy no more singing.") He will not sit on a little potty. He will not sit on a regular potty. He will not sit on a potty that is not in our home.

So I decided to use the wise words of my old friend Jackie who told me to find his currency (what he will work for) and use it, even if you go broke. So I am going broke. I justify it by figuring the price of diapers for the rest of his life vs the price of rewards.

If and when he goes poppy on the potty, I have promised him a BMW.

so far, soooooo good.

This picture pretty much sums up our summer so far...

When I saw it, I could not help but turn it in to a Missy-esque labeled picture.

the million dollar question...

Why haven't you been blogging?

I really dont have an excuse. I am on summer break...I should have ample time to update the blog on all of the fun stuff we have been up to...I simply am not...

So...here is our first three weeks of summer...the condensed version...

Tasha's reception was a blast...although the boys did not take to the hotel as their new home, right away.

Dixon is coming up on his last day of bust ball blast ball tomorrow. He has gotten closer to playing independently each time...but trust me...this spectacle deserves a post all to itself.  Which will soon follow.

Adam is full swing into his college classes. He is about half way done with his summer classes and after two loooooooooong weekends, he has completed his coaching authorization.

Adam's classes are all day Monday and Wednesday and two online. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I am working with respite clients in Des Moines.

The boys...as you can see...are as cute as ever.

They have been spending their summer days at the park, the pool,

the zoo, Target, Grandpa's farm and playing with daddy's old toys at Grandma Gayle's house.

While we don't have big plans for the rest of the summer...

We do have lots of little ones, including a big garage sale, a trip to Clear Lake, finishing classes for Adam and I and much more fun in the sun.

So until next time, which I promise will not be long...

hold on, because this summer is flying by!
