Why are there leaves in my back yard???

Don't get me wrong I do LALALOVE fall...but it just seems like last week we were bundling Dixon up because the Spring air was too cold! Time is just flying by! It is so hard to believe that summer has already come and gone. However...I am so happy that fall is here, it is for sure my favorite time of year for many reasons...football games, Covered Bridge Festival, beautiful tress, chili, crisp air, pumpkin patches, mums, sweatshirt weather...I could go on and on. I am so excited to share this fall with little Dixon!

These are a few of my favorite things...

At almost six months (sigh) Dixon is loving life!
And why wouldn't he?
He has everything a little boy could dream of and more.
Parents that ADORE him,
Grandparents who spoil him rotten,
Aunts and uncles who are amazed by him...
Besides his amazing family there are so many wonders to enjoy...
Here are just a few...

My best buddy...WUBBANUB!

Jumping time!

Formula...of course.

Online shopping...oh wait that's mommy! ;)

Long walks and car rides.

FRUIT!

ALL of my puppies!

Bath time!

There's just one thing

The snot sucker!

When Dixon was first born it was my mission in life to remove every particle from his nose with this wonderful device...
Now I am lucky if I get one suck, before he goes through the roof!
Well...he can't be happy ALL the time...so 99.9% will do for us!

Friday night lights...

Dixon is loving to watch Uncle Jackson, cousin Chance, and all of their buddies play football on Friday nights. This week is a little too far for us to travel (Harlan). But next week is the BIG homecoming game...we are so excited!

In less exciting news...Dixon had his first ear infection last week... ;(
We are on the road to recovery!

Thank God for Dixon!

This is what the cake read....somewhere between me telling Grandma Wendy and Grandma Wendy telling Grandpa Jack and Grandpa Jack telling the Cosco lady that we wanted the cake to read "Thank you God for Dixon" the "for" was left out and our cake said, "Thank God for Dixon!"
Both are true...and it was a delicious cake....nonetheless.

Dixon's baptism was so beautiful and we were so lucky that so many of our family members could be there to share it with us. And that Grandma Wendy could be the elder that confirmed his baptism!

Everyone in the church commented what a perfect baby he was...and how he seemed to love the water...

One lady even said, "He is one of those babies you just can't take your eyes off of."

We agree!

Momnesia...

I first heard of this phenomenon when I was pregnant with Dixon from my blogging buddy Missy on her blog.
Now, we all know that I have had plenty of "Kendra" or "blonde" moments over the years...
But I am telling you it is WORSE!

For example, Aunt Natalie and I went to Subway for lunch the other day and when she asked me what I want on my sandwich, I looked right at her and said, "What do I want on my sandwich?"

And the other night when Adam came to bed...I asked him if he had his English done!

AND one day I was trying to take Dixon to Grandma Gayle's in the morning...and I locked the poor little pumpkin in the car (along with the keys)!

It's hard to explain, but after starting back to work and school...I have 500 things running across my brain at all times...therefore I am suffering from momnesia....that is my claim.

However it is NO excuse for missing one of my best besties birthdays...;(

Auntie Kayla...I am sorry...but I am pleading Momensia...blame Missy...she put this idea in my head.

HAPPY 25th AUNTIE KAYLA...WE LOVE YOU!

Something I love...

Parenting a Special Needs Child
By Emily Perl Kingsley

"I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this:

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip to Italy. You buy a bunch of guidebooks and make your wonderful plans: the Coliseum, Michelangelo's David, the gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guidebooks. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It's just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills – and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy ... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say, "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away, because the loss of that dream is a very, very significant loss.

But if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you many never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things about Holland."

Happy 14th birthday Lady Love!

Ok...she is only 2 in human years....but it seems like we have had her forever! We can not imagine our lives with out our little girl!

Our little turtle.

Dixon is working so hard on crawling...but he looks more like a turtle than a crawler!
It is so much fun watching him grow and change!

FYI!

In case I have forgotten to tell you...
Dixon's baptism is next Sunday September 14th at 10 at the Presbyterian Church here in town!

Dixon is love.

At our church there is a man named Darrell. Darrell has special needs and lives in a group home here in town. He comes to church every Sunday and ALWAYS sits right next to my mom. Mom wasn't in church yet when he arrived yesterday so Darrell sat by Dixon and I. He asked if he could hold Dixon and reluctantly I handed him over. Darrell handled him so carefully...more carefully than most. Dixon was smiling at him and snuggled up to his shoulder. Darrell had the biggest smile on his face and even said to me, "I think he likes me more than you." :) It made me realize how much joy babies can bring to people of all abilities. Darrell saw Dixon as someone who really liked him and did not judge him at first sight. This is just another reason why Dixon is love. :)
