ready, set, bro!
Since we are in the hospital, I thought I would schedule a post to show how Dixon has been preparing for his baby brother (your welcome Aunt Darcy:)). After receiving this learning toy (NOT a doll, Grandpa Donnie), Dixon has been practicing being a big brother. As you can see we have a little way to go, as sometimes Dixon has his toy in a choke hold, or tosses him aside to play with his train. The pictures our proof that Dixon IS ready to be a BIG brother. :)
Now me on the other hand, I am a little nervous about having two little ones running around here. I am sure that we will all adapt perfectly and he will be the DREAM baby...:)
I know that I won't be able to resist posting pics of the new bundle of joy...so look for them on Thursday or Friday! Then it's home sweet home on Saturday...

Normal...
Since what is normal is about to change drastically in the next 24 hours, I thought that I would update what a typical day is like for us these days...
You may remember this post. When I wrote about Dixon's typical days at 6 weeks old.
Dixon usually wakes up between 8 and 9. After we go into get him we usually snuggle on the couch or in our bed while watching a cartoon, then we cook him his breakfast of choice...waffles and syrup or toast with jelly.
After we are finished eating Dixon will play with his toys and usually take a shower with Adam.
Adam goes to work at 11:00ish and would take Dixon to Grandma Gayle's, if I was working.
Dixon then plays some more and watches Nick Jr. His favorite shows are Backyardigians, Wonder Pets, Yo Gabba Gabba, Wow Wow Wubzzy, ect.
Around noon Dixon eats lunch, anything with ketchup or baked beans will do.
After lunch Dixon is ready for nap time. On a typical day Dixon will nap for 2-3 hours.
When nap time is over Dixon has a little snack, then is ready to play/watch/read the day away.
After supper around 6:00, Dixon watches more of his favorite shows and has a bath (if necessary). Dixon usually heads to bed around 8 or 9 and wakes up ready for the next day...:)
We are getting ready for a new normal at the Alexander house and we are so excited to see what the future holds.
And isn't it normal to brush your teeth with a comb after eating a Christmas chocolate ball?

Cookie monster!
On Christmas Eve Dixon and I went to my Mom's for a day of baking. Which of course included the time honored tradition of making Grandma Dot's (Dixon's great-great-grandma) sugar cookies. As you could see Dixon was not too thrilled with cutting the cookies out and refused to eat the dough! Whose child is he??
However, looking on the bright side...the mess was minimal and there was no tummy ache...;)

Christmas day 2009
Grandpa Don...busted! ;)
The "broom-broom" face...:)
Making an important phone call...:)
Adam Dixon and I woke up and had Christmas at our house opening gifts and playing with Dixon's train table...
Then we headed to Grandma Wendy's and Grandpa Jack's where they had been waiting for us since around 6 am...with breakfast casserole and homemade cinnamon rolls...yum!
I was a little distraught that we were not able to go to Grandpa Don and Grandma Chris's due to the weather, but we were able to see them later on that day at Grandma Patty's.
Next we headed off to Grandma Gayle and Grandpa Dan's house to wake them up.
Then it was off to Grandma Patty and Grandpa Don's were so happy that everyone was able to make it even though we had a big snow storm the night before.
It did make for a beautiful Christmas :).
We then went back to my mom's for her annual Christmas night party...but we did not last too long. We were Christmased out and in need of sleep! :)
WHEW! What a day!

Aunt Natalie! :)
The infamous Mr. Romeo.
Grandpa Dan with the football that was given to him by a player this year at a Bears game...
his pride and joy...:)
We had two great celebrations on Christmas Eve...
Hamballs and cheesey potatoes at Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Jack's. Then we were off to Grandpa Dan and Grandma Gayle's for good food and great company...:)

Yes...
Yes...It has come to that point...we are all waiting.
Yes..It was the same at school...Instead of being greeted with a
"Hello!" it was "You're still here?"
Yes...it is probably because at my last appointment I was measuring at 40 weeks...although I would say it is more like 42...
Yes we have already had two Christmas celebrations that have not been documented via blog
Yes we have 7 Christmases between now and the time we go to bed tomorrow...
And Yes...this little one is still the most adorable blue eyed, strawberry blonde boy you will ever see.

blue eyed bathing boy
Do not let this smiling blue eyed bathing baby boy fool you...he has been causing some major waves in the tub. Which has led to my new rule...no bath until he has had a poopy dipe. There was a pooptastrophe in our home the other night that involved a poop covered boy, couch, and bathroom.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have made my list and I am checking things off slowly but surely...
There are just so many things I had wanted to get done before Christmas and baby dos and if the little darling holds off a few more days, I might be ready!
My research project has been accepted and next week I will be able to submit my comp test...It looks like I really might graduate this spring!
I am still feeling pretty good...I have just started to have intense heartburn! My feet are starting to resemble clubs...it is all coming back to me now! ;)
This weekend we have two Christmas celebrations, one at my dad' s and another at Grandma Karen's, it will be a fun fulled busy weekend!
In breaking news...I have my own camera again...get ready for tons of Dixon pics...not in a blue striped shirt...;) My mom and Adam both contributed to get me a fancy one...Now just to learn how to work it! :)

my dad.
I know, I know, everyone thinks that their dad is the greatest.
But I am telling you my dad is pretty awesome.
He works (too) hard to provide for his family.
He has made many sacrifices for us and is always willing to help.
Today is his birthday, so I just wanted to share this little story...
When Dixon was sick and I was with him in the hospital here in town. My dad was out working on grain bins, but came into town to make sure we were ok. We were in the room for about 30 minutes and then we had to leave for some tests, I noticed my dad didn't have his boots on, he was just in his socks. When I asked them why, he said. "They were awful muddy, so I left them at the door."
Isn't he the best?
:)
Happy Birthday Dad!

christmas cards
A few weeks ago, Adam, my mom, and I set out to save some $ and take our own Christmas card pictures...
Here is a look at what we accomplished...
Go long, Daddy!
I loved the red bench...but the sun was not in the right spot. Is there a way to get rid of shadows?
Dixon is a go go getter...
But he always takes time to stop and smell the mums.
